After eight years of acting, 29-year-old Shiloh Fernandez is about to get his big break as Shailene Woodley’s onscreen love interest in the upcoming thriller “White Bird In A Blizzard.” Thanks to a steamy trailer, everyone is buzzing about the two stars – and those offscreen dating rumors aren’t hurting, either.

After beginning his career as an American Apparel model, Shiloh began acting in guest roles on TV series, TV movies and indies in the mid 2000s, with notable multi-episode arcs in “Jericho” and “United States of Tara” and supporting roles in “Cadillac Records” and “Red.”

Shiloh had a near miss with fame when he tried out for the part of Edward Cullen in the “Twilight” series in 2008. He was a front-runner for the role, but Kristen Stewart had better chemistry with Robert Pattinson, and he didn’t get the part.

“No one had any idea what Twilight would become. At the time, it was just another audition. I didn’t realise I was missing out on stardom and giant pay cheques,” Shiloh later said.

“Now, looking back on it, I certainly wouldn’t have been mentally stable enough to deal with all that. Lucky for me, not getting that part led to other work that was a much better fit for me.”

“Twilight” director Catherine Hardwicke liked Shiloh enough that she cast him as the male lead in the Amanda Seyfried-starring “Red Riding Hood.” Though the movie was a flop, it significantly raised Shiloh’s profile and led to a starring role in the 2013 remake of “the Evil Dead.”

“White Bird In A Blizzard” may have originally been just another indie drama for Shiloh – it premiered at Sundance earlier this year to mixed reviews and is scheduled for release in October. However, the connection to Shailene Woodley will definitely raise his profile – especially given that the two’s palpable chemistry has led to offscreen dating rumors.

Next up, Shiloh will join another One To Watch star, Keisha Castle-Hughes, in “Queen of Carthage” and Rosamund Pike in “Return To Sender.” He’s rumored to be joining Zac Efron and “Blurred Lines” model Emily Ratajkowski in “We Are Your Friends” – which will surely boost his career even more.
